Media Club
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- To inculcate and develop relevant skills and competencies in using Audio-Visual equipment.
- To provide opportunities for members to serve and benefit the school community during assemblies
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
- Values: Members will have the opportunity to exhibit sisterly love for younger members as they mentor and coach them through the routines in backstage management. In addition, members will learn to be resilient in the course of their duties and service to the school. Members will develop their sense of responsibilities as they take on various roles in the club.
- Leadership training: Members will be given opportunities to try out different roles in Media Club. Based on interest and aptitude, members will have the chance to develop leadership skills. Potential leaders will then be identified to form the EXCO group. Senior members will be engaged to guide newer or younger members throughout their journey in Media Club.
PROGRAMME/ACTIVITIES
Backstage Management:
Members will be trained to handle backstage equipment in the hall which includes microphones, mic stands, laptops, projector screen, walkie-talkie and radio communications, etc.
Use & Handling of Audio-Visual Equipment:
Members will be taught to safely and properly handle digital cameras (i.e. DSLR), video cameras, etc. Following key school events, members will have the opportunity to edit, compile and showcase their photos via the school broadcasting platforms.
Stop-motion Animation:
Members will have the opportunity to learn basic stop-motion animation skills. Using simple craft tools and materials, members will acquire the skills needed to produce a simple stop-motion animation video via the iPad.
Coding:
Members will be able to gain exposure in basic coding and develop computational thinking skills. Using apps like Thunkable, members will learn to code simple and useful programs via iPad / laptop.
BENEFITS
Members will have the opportunity to develop both hard and soft skills. They will get a chance to hone their technical skills and at the same time interact and develop bonds with members from other classes or levels.
